Wow! What a great little restaurant.
Order at the front counter and the food is delivered to the table very quickly. I counted 6 cooks! This place has very skilled cooks & service. They know how to run a restaurant for sure.
The burritos are huge.
The chile rellano burrito was very fresh. Served with rice on the side. It was so nice that the chile rellano was homemade cooked fresh on the spot. The chile was not mushy at all and was filled with just the right amount of monterey jack cheese. The burrito had just a bit of refried bean/black bean combo inside , but not too much.
Delicious!
The Los Agaves burrito was full of Fresh halibut and shrimp, roasted red peppers, onions, monterey jack cheese, lettuce and guacamole. It's a wet burrito with chipotle sauce on top. Also served with rice and a small house salad. Delicious!
Dessert was homemade flan and it was amazing. Perfect creaminess and texture. Drizzled with caramel sauce and topped with whipped cream. Best flan I've ever had.
Overall, this little restaurant tucked away in The Marketplace is such a hidden gem!
Of course we'll be back! -

They have good deals for UCSB students! Just show your student ID and you can get discounts on certain days.
My favorites are their los agaves salad, steak fajitas, and steak burrito! Really good fast decently priced Mexican food!! -

I personally don't know what all the rave is about. From every foodie blog I checked, everyone seemed to bring up Los Agaves. It's just like any "Off the Border" or Mexicali joint around. Their food is either too wet, over-saucy, bland, and simple tasting.
My GF and I came for dinner and we expected better. We came to the one on Marketplace because the other locations were super busy. I ordered the Chiles Norteno which were two poblano peppers stuffed with Monterey jack cheese and shrimp. This was decent but nothing fantastic or anything I haven't already had. My lady's Alambre's were super soggy, meat was too bland, and the plate was basically covered in green peppers; it was not good.
The service was a bit slow, utensils were washed and refilled so we had to use plastic utensils. The chips were basic but the salsa bar was good. None of their hot sauces were filled either; c'mon guys!
I'm not coming back and I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. BYE! -

I really love the salsa bar with a variety of salsas to choose from. I had the Tacos Vallarta, and the tampiquena. The food is great and the service is awesome. Shrimp was succulent, plump and juicy. I think this is a great spot for locals as it was recommended to me by a local co-worker when I was visiting town. Pricing is slightly higher than what I'm used to outside of Santa Barbara area but pretty standard in the local communities after I've been here for two weeks. I'd definitely recommend it, and the chips were warm, light and crisp which is a great bonus as that's not the case in some places. Really fast casual dining experience with great service!

I can't believe it's taken my so long to review this place! This is definitely my GO TO Mexican spot (that's not a taqueria) in SB/Goleta. I love the diversity of entrees, the quickness of the service, the fresh salsa bar, AND the fact that they serve Diet Coke.
My favorite meal is the flautitas--They are INCREDIBLE! Its so hard to branch out and try different dishes bc these have NEVER let me down, but in the few times I have gone out of my comfort zone I have always been satisfied. Friends of mine also consistently order their fish/shrimp options here and are always raving about them.
Los Agaves has a few locations throughout the area (even as far down as Oxnard), but I like the Camino Real location the best. It might be small inside, but the patio seating + their heaters make it a unique space to enjoy dinner in beautiful SB weather!
